Figurine Of A Dulcimer Player, Ca. 1750

This figurine of a young woman playing a hammer dulcimer, possibly produced at Bow in the mid 18th century. She sits perched against a tree with her dulcimer on one knee. A folder of musical tunes rests open on the ground near her left foot. The details are beautifully modeled with great delicacy and gaily colored, especially the difficult to produce yellow at that period.

Condition

Very good + condition and cosmetically near perfect. The left hand, dulcimer strap, both hammer sticks, some flower heads and leaves have been expertly repaired and not noticeable without magnification. Minor rubbing of the gold on the high spots at the hem of her dress.
