Victorian Arm and Side Chair, Ca. 1860

England or France Ca. 1860

Visually  these are real eye catchers. The combination of black paint, gold scrolls and tracery combined with inlaid abalone are dramatic. Add cushions to the woven caned seats to suit your decor. They still have the original white porcelain casters.

This form is referred to as a gondola style or chaise gondole after the French Directoire design. Chairs like these were made in England and in France during the Napoleon III Period. I only have the one arm and a side chair.

Price

$1200/Both

Condition

Very good antique condition. There is some wear to the gold and a few pieces of abalone are missing. The usual stress cracks in the finish at the wood joints. The cane while old is still intact.

Measurements

35.5" H X 20" W X 26" D

English Regency Soup Tureen, Ca. 1840 Probably Worcester

A striking soup tureen with under plate most likely made at Worcester in the Flight, Barr and Barr period. It has an heraldic symbol with a motto “Vi Et Virtute” or loosely, strength and valor.
