Renaissance Style Portrait of a Gentleman

European/American Ca. 1900

Exceptionally well done water color and mixed media oval portrait of a prosperous gentleman in mid-17th century costume, most likely copied from a museum exhibit in the late 19th or early 20th century by a gifted artist. Evidently this was at one time in the collection of the Forbes Library, Northampton, Mass. It has a date stamp of May 4, 1910.

Excellent condition. The background paper the portrait is mounted on by a paper hinge has some edge tears and some creases.
