Relief Portrait of St. Cecilia the Patroness of Musicians

Ca. 1880

A cast relief of St. Cecilia known as the patroness of musicians perhaps modeled after a Renaissance example in the Toledo Museum of Art in Ohio. The base is plaster with a very fine texture finish that has an alabaster appearance. The ogee molded frame of the interior, part of the entire casting, is painted with a deep brown salmon color with floral and leaf design extending onto the portrait. The background of the portrait has a pale blue light sky. Her blouse has an incised shallow all over design. All contained in a glass, gilt and black shadow frame. Please be aware that glass can be problematical when shipped.
