Porcelain Snuff Box, German, Ca. 1740

Gemanic States Ca. 1740

A porcelain snuff box probably produced in a Germanic State in the middle of the 18th Century. This little jewel is decorated all over the exterior and one scene of Leda and the Swan on the interior of the lid. The silver engraved mounts still retain a gold wash on the interior. The exterior with varied scenes of lovers in landscapes, all surrounded with puce rococo scrolling.

Possibly made in the Frankenthaler manufactory. Unmarked

Condition

Excellent except some rubbing, thin scratches and a small chip to the bottom. Gold wash is rubbed from the exterior silver mounts but largely intact on the inside.
