Patriotic American Feather Art Picture

Ca. 1930

This is the first time I have seen one of these. It reminds me of the earlier Chinese needlework pictures that American sailors bought as souvenirs of their voyages to the Orient in the late 19th century. Almost everything is done in different colored feathers except the paper eagle’s claws beak, eye and the black mounting paper or mat board (not examined out of the frame). Under glass

Overall very good ++ condition. One arrow has come loose and the frame has some scuffs and dings. The old paper covering sealing the back side is loose in places.

Next Piece

George III Irish or English Mahogany Side Chair Ca. 1750

A fine example of a “Queen Anne” cabriole leg side chair in a form thought to have been made in Ireland. A curvacious piece of sculpture from any aspect. Possibly deaccessioned by a museum as it has a museum type inventory number painted on the bottom of the rear seat rail.
