Pair of William IV Rosewood Arm Chairs, Ca. 1840

England Ca. 1840

An excellent quality pair of brass inlaid Brazilian rosewood upholstered arm chairs made in England around 1840.

Price

$1800 pair

Condition

Overall good antique condition. There have been some small veneer repairs, mostly to the front corners of the seat rails. The upholstery fabric is in presentable condition but the underlying webbing is stretched a bit. Some of the brass inlay is no longer firmly inset from the natural expansion and contraction of the wood over time. A few pieces of brass inlay were replaced with filler and colored like brass. The leather covered wheels of the casters have lost most of the hard leather. The joints appear to be tight.

Chinese Export Porcelain Green Fitzhugh Deep Dishes

A set of four Chinese porcelain deep dishes in the green Fitzhugh pattern. These were produced for the western market beginning in the early 1800 and continued into the early 20th century. While difficult to accurately date, I believe these were produced in the earlier part of the 19th century.
