George III Writing Table, Mahogany Ca. 1800

England Ca. 1800

A fine quality faded mahogany English writing table with the same drawer configuration on each side. The overall plan of the facade and plain round tapered leg with a half bulbous carving at the top was being produced at least as early as 1795. The drawer facings are trimmed at the edges by a single inlaid ebony line. The writing surface is gold tooled leather that is also faded.
