George III Games Table In The French Taste

England 1780

A graceful English 18th century serpentine carved mahogany games table on slender molded cabriole legs. The tops of each leg have a fully carved shell and end in scrolled feet on a high heel. The cyma curved frieze is capped on the bottom edge with a narrow rope carved molding. There is one rear leg that swings out to support the top when opened. The interior of the top has an inset green baize playing surface surrounded by cross banding.

Condition

Overall very pleasing antique condition. Only minute replacements (except the baize). Light surface abrasions and the usual dings and age cracks from normal shrinkage.
