Chinese Rose Canton Plate From Marques de Almendares Service

China 1842

A rare and beautiful example of the best quality Chinese export in the Rose Canton pallet. This plate is from the service ordered by Ignacio Herrera, The Marques de Almendares of Cuba in 1842. A platter from this service is in the collection of Winterthur Museum, one of America’s premier museums dedicated to American culture with an impressive quantity of Chinese porcelain made for the western market.

The overall condition is very good with only minor rubbing to the gold . There are a few scattered small dark blue enamel chips and one small repaired rim chip at about 8 o'clock that does not affect any decoration except the gold edge and abutting red line.
