Chinese Export Porcelain Tea Caddies, Ca. 1720

China Ca. 1720

Chinese Export Porcelain- A rare pair of tea caddies.

I have never seen a pair of early Chinese Export Porcelain tea caddies before. The bodies are rectangular in form with canted corners. The sides are flute molded. The colors may indicate these were made for the Dutch or North West European market and lending credibility to the intended marked are the labels on the bases from a Rotterdam antiques/art dealer active in the 1920s. Shall I dare to describe these using a favorite term from early issues of The Magazine Antiques, “Exceedingly Rare”. 😉
