A sensitively rendered painting by Viennese artist Josef Lauer (1818-1881). Lauer, known for his landscape and floral work is listed in Benizit. He was a student of Sebastian Wegmeyer, Thomas Ender, Franz Steinfeld and Joseph Mossmer at the Academy of Vienna. It appears to be in its original gilt frame.
