Georgian Mahogany 18th Century Brass Banded Cellarette/Wine Cooler on Stand

United Kingdom Mid 18th Century

A very good quality George III cellarette with three mounted wide brass bands, the original tripod stand and interior lead lined honeycomb divided compartments. The center compartment has a drain plug ( it has not been tested for holding water ). The body is attached to the stand by three large screws. The splayed legs give this a great stance.

Price

$4300

Condition

Excellent. Excellent antique condition. There are the normal dings and small scratches. The brass bands have some bumps and irregularities. Has a pleasing finish. The casters may be old replacements. The anchors for the lock have been filed down at some time probably due to misalignment from age shrinkage. It is very heavy.

George III Irish or English Mahogany Side Chair Ca. 1750

A fine example of a “Queen Anne” cabriole leg side chair in a form thought to have been made in Ireland. A curvacious piece of sculpture from any aspect. Possibly deaccessioned by a museum as it has a museum type inventory number painted on the bottom of the rear seat rail.
