Ethel Hore Townsend, born in New York 1876, died New Jersey 1970.

This little oil painting on panel of a bouquet of flowers is signed “E H Townsend” at the lower right and “E.H.T.” on the back. She is known for her miniature floral paintings.

Hand carved pine with gesso and patinated oxidized silver gilt. They appear to be 1st quarter of the 20th Century and electrified around the same time or a little later. The original models for these suggest 18th Century England as they are more slender than many of the heavier Continental examples.
