Sterling Silver Waiter, London 1812 by Craddock & Ried for the Lyons Family

Sterling silver waiter by Craddock and Ried, made in London in the rococo taste in 1812. It bears an engraved armorial device which may be that of Lyons family. This seems likely as one of the Latin mottoes translate as “Don’t provoke the lions”. The other motto means “Troubles be damned”.

The molded dished scrolled edge has has two sizes of pectin shells. The molded interrupted legs end in shod pad feet. The underside maker’s marks can still easily be read.

The weight is 10.75 Troy oz.
