Tole Tea Bin By Henrey Troemner, Philadelphia

A very large chinoiserie decorated tea bin made by the Henry Troemner factory in the 2nd half of the 19th Century. It has a typical westernized Chinese theme in gold over a black ground. The inside of the lid is marked Henry Troemner, Maker, Philadelphia. I imagine because of its size it was used in a dry good store.

Troemner began manufacturing scales and all sorts of metal items in Philadelphia in the 1840s. Condition

Overall good antique condition. The back, bottom and interior have a modest amount of surface rust. The front retains most of its original surface as do the sides and top. There are multiple scratches and a few dings.
