Fireplace Fender, Ca. 1830

American or English 1st third of the 19th Century

A vigorously curved serpentine shaped fireplace fender made of brass and iron. This has an infrequently seen cross brace between the ends of the serpentine curves. This is the first time I have seen brass feet that resemble the base of some Boston classical andirons.

Very good. Normal dings and bent wires for age. Center rear of bottom pan has minor rust out.
