American Classical Bird’s Eye Maple Queen Width Bed Ca. 1840

American, probably New York State Ca.1840

A tight pattern of bird’s eye maple on thefronts, sides and backs. This was made as a combination rope and canvas bed with the unusual feature of locking ratchets to
keep it tight. Hanging straps would need to be made to hold a box spring in place and of course both box spring and mattress would have to be custom made. If you needed two queen size headboards this is perfect as the head and foot are identical.

Price

$1,200

Condition

Very good antique condition. Only some minor chips and four of the side locks for the ratchets are missing.
