Federal Period Mahogany Candle Stand Ca. 1825

America Ca. 1825

A bold design constructed of dense heavy mahogany. This is the third example I have found with similar
details such as the raised reeded molding on the tops of the legs which stop a couple of inches above the
spade feet, vigorously arched “spider” legs and heavy but well formed posts. One example had a triple elliptic
shaped top and the other one was like this with double elliptic or “clover leaf” shaped top. I suspect this group may have been made in the Albany, New York region.

Pair Curtain Tiebacks, Gilt Bronze and Porcelain

A decorative Victorian Era pair of curtain tiebacks made from gilt bronze and lightly gilded white porcelain flower heads. They do come with later made wall mounting holders. They make a nice object d’art on a shelf too.
