Exquisite English Regency Inlaid Sewing or Valuables Box

England circa 1825

This profusely inlaid box is among the finest I have ever offered for sale. The exterior and an interior panel are intricately inlaid with various woods primarily consisting of curly maple and curly harewood. The leaves are dyed green. The flower heads and diamonds between the leaves are dyed red. The brass hardware still retains much of its silver plating. The ribbed melon type feet while very appropriate appear to have been added at a later date.

Excellent. There are some small repairs and minor filling to small areas of inlay. The interior has been re-covered at some point and shows small areas of discoloration with small losses but is generally clean and very pleasing.
